Are you ready to step into the adventure of a lifetime?

This is a page for adventurers by adventurers. Especially about what drives us. With monthly articles about inspiring runners & dreamers (see guestblog).

Daniel Podzimek exchanged one of the flattest countries on earth to live in the Bavarian Alps and built a life around mountains. He is a medical doctor and avid ultrarunner. He loves adventure, exploration, and the philosophical journey of covering long distances on foot. His favorite events are 200-400 k+ endurance runs & (FKT) projects.

His heroes are Emil Zatopek and Jerzy Kukuchka. When he is not working in the hospital, he is most likely exploring a new mountain top in his backyard! He is by no means a professional athlete, just a passionate enthusiast who loves adventure (in all its forms & shapes).

If someone feels inspired to travel to the Alps or join their first 5k run or their first ultra after browsing this platform the site is considered a success. Feel free to reach out!
Running the mountains at home

_

Mountains are cathedrals: grand and pure, the houses of my religion. I go to them as humans go to worship…From their lofty summits, I view my past, dream of the future, and with unusual acuity I am allowed to experience the present moment. My strength renewed, my vision cleared, in the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn.
-Anatoli Boukreev

“There is nothing quite so gentle, deep, and irrational as running–and nothing quite so savage, so wild.”
― Bernd Heinrich, Why We Run: A Natural History

Come along for the ride and check out what my running friends & I have been up to:

“Mountains inspire our highest selves. When we encounter mountains in wild places we experience the peak of our own humility. Whether we are standing at the summit or paying respects from below, we are flushed with awe. Perhaps this is the beginning of religion.” — Terry Tempest Williams, Extreme Landscape
